FAQs

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
There is street parking available.

Do I need a trail pass?
In fact you do! Military Ridge State Trail requires the purchase of a trail pass which is $5 for the day or $25 for the year.
Trail passes can be purchased at the DNR Service Center at 3911 Fish Hatchery Rd, Fitchburg, WI 53711 or by calling 888-936-7463.
Learn more at http://dnr.wi.gov/topic/parks/trailpass.html

Is this like your bike tours?
This is not a tour. This is a group ride for cyclists to meet other cyclists in the community, check out a trail that might be new to them and to visit a couple of small, local breweries that are along the bike trail.

Is anything included?
The Grumpy Troll and Hop Haus Brewing have been gracious enough to offer participants their Happy Hour prices but you will need to pay for any beer or food you order. This is a relaxed and free event we're organizing for Wisconsin Bike Week.

What if it rains?
We will ride rain or shine. In the event of extreme, dangerous or absolutely miserable weather we will reschedule the tour.
We will not cancel the ride based on the forecast during the week leading up to the tour. We will make our decision based on the radar at Noon the day of the event. If we cancel, we will call and email the people who made the reservations. Make sure you check your email or be around your cell phone 2 hours before the tour in case the cancellation call goes out.
We do ride if it is a chilly out so make sure to dress appropriately for the weather.

What type of bicycle is appropriate for this event?
Bikes in good working order are a must. This ride uses a trail that is packed gravel so road and other bikes with very skinny tires may not be appropriate for this trail. Please don't dust off a bike you haven't ridden in years and hope that it will make a 25 mile bike ride. If you do have a bike that you haven't used in a while, we recommend wiping off your chain with a clean rag and applying bike chain lubricant as well as inflating your tires to the appropriate pressure. Otherwise, a tune up at a local bike shop is a great way to detect potential problems that might affect your enjoyment of a bike tour.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
You must be 21 to drink beer and you must have your state issued ID, the breweries may ask you for them and refuse you service if you are without, regardless of how old you appear.
